Oysters Grow Kit Information

​Step 1 Open one side of the box and remove the growing block.

Step 2 Stand the box on its end so the opening is to the side.

Step 3 With a sharp, very clean blade, cut an ‘X’ where marked on the bag and place it back in the box with the ’X’ facing outwards. Place your kit in the room out of direct sunlight.

​Step 4 Use the mister provided to mist the area around the cut (not directly on the slit) and inside the box to maintain high humidity. It is best to boil and cool the water first. The ideal temperature for growing Oysters mushrooms is 16-18°C.

​Step 5 Your mushrooms are ready to pick when the edge of the mushrooms flatten out. When the edges begin to curl upward, they are starting to go past their best.

Step 6 Harvest your mushrooms by pulling off the entire bouquet using your fingertips, and slowly lifting the mushrooms away from the bottom of their stems. You should find that with care you can remove full clumps at a time, working them free from the substrate and allowing a better chance for the next yield. Prepare your mushrooms by trimming the base free of substrate before use.

Afterwards You can now soak the growing block in a bucket of cold water overnight, drain well, then set up as before (maintain high humidity) and wait for your next flush. You can do this once or twice; then break the block up and add it to your garden to enrich the soil.
