Rimmer, a name taken from Red Dwarf is our first family dog. About six months after we got him as a puppy, we found an unusual growth on his nose. We took him to the vets; they sent samples off to be tested. Generally, they said 80% of the time it’s nothing to worry about, unfortunately, the tests came back, and we were informed the growth is a tumour on his nose. Unfortunately, further testing showed the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes and was extremely aggressive and with this kind of cancer he could be dead within 6 months to a year if not treated. The treatment procedure would involve cutting the whole side of his nose and face to remove the tumour and a serious session of chemotherapy to stop the tumour from spreading, the treatment may have given another 2-3 years with our beloved pup. As you can imagine myself and my wife were extremely sad and desperate, the treatment would expose his teeth so other dogs would inadvertently see him as a threat, also the rising vet bills, the whole treatment would cost £4000 Just to examine him, to see how far the cancer had spread was another £1500, We made the decision to prolong his life as much as we can and give him a happy and healthy life, then when the time came, and the cancer had taken hold of him we would look at humane ways of ending his life.

We began to research alternatives to treat Rimmers cancer. I’d heard the benefits of Turkey Tail mushrooms and its use in humans. I discovered it can be used on animals as well, but no real medical evidence had been recorded. After a lot of research, we decided to use Turkey Tail powder, I spoke to Isle of Wight mushrooms about buying their mushroom grow kits and harvesting them to make medicine for Rimmer, I was advised it would be better to buy the tincture for this application. I have been giving Rimmer tincture for the last 4 to 5 months (half a human dosage) and as you can see the difference in the visible tumour on his nose is amazing. He is now two years old healthy happy dog. We have not had him tested so we don’t know if the tumour has spread. But the vet has advised us we would notice it with his stool and lack of eating (he is yellow a lab!). I do believe that the turkey tail has slowed down or reduced the tumour. The tincture has improved his condition so much its basically like the tumour has completely gone. I do believe we have many more years of happy times with our dog
