Reishi Grow Kit
£17.50
Our Reishi Kits have now sold out for Christmas but the new batch will be dispatched in the Week ending the 14th of January
The Reishi kit produces a beautiful deep red and yellow version of this renowned mushroom used in Chinese medicine. It can be sliced into pieces to make tea, dried and powdered to consume as a food supplement, or grown just for display. They have a fibrous cork-like texture however and so are not for culinary use to eat but rather for their ‘meaty’ flavour which you can add to dishes.
Easy to grow and fun to watch.
Fully colonised block ready to fruit. Everything needed to grow is in the box.

Reishi Grow Kit Information
Step 1 - Remove the growing block from the box.
Step 2 - With a sharp, clean knife, cut a slit in the bag 5mm deep on the black lines where marked and place the block back in the box with the slit exposed through the open end of the box facing to the side.
Step 3 - Place the box in a warm location out of direct sunlight. These mushrooms like it warm, at room temperature up to 25°C!
Step 4 - Use the mister provided to maintain a high humidity by misting inside the bag provided & inside the box but not directly onto the growing block. It is best to boil and cool the water first. Remove and replace the bag over the entire kit each time you do this and ensure a 4” gap at the bottom. This will provide fresh air exchange as these mushrooms require high humidity and fresh air; mushrooms need to breathe oxygen just like us. Once the fruiting body appears, do not spray directly onto the mushroom as this can introduce bacteria.ria.
Step 5 - Harvest your Reishi mushroom when the desired size is reached by breaking off at the base. It can take one to two months to reach this stage.
Reishi lingzhi have no culinary use but you can now dry the fruit slowly and display, or better still, cut into pieces and boil in water for tea to be drunk as a tonic. You can also grind freshly dried Reishi into powder to be taken daily as a supplement for good health.
Afterwards You can now soak the growing block in a bucket of cold water overnight, drain well, then set up as before (maintain high humidity) and wait for your next flush. You can do this once or twice; then break the block up and add it to your garden to enrich the soil.
